Vintage Fire Museum and Safety Education Center, Jeffersonville, IN
November 7-10, 2014

The Fire Museum Network Seminar scheduled for November 6 to 10, 2014, in Jeffersonville & Clarksville, Indiana - located just across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky.

The Network board will meet on Thursday, Nov. 6. The Seminar sessions will be on Friday (beginning at 9 AM), Saturday, and Sunday, Nov. 7-9, and will include visits to fire museums in the area. On Monday, Nov. 10, there will be an optional bus tour of both horse farms and the "Bourbon Trail." (There will be an extra fee for the optional bus tour.)

The Seminar fee for early registration (up to October 10) is $175 for Fire Museum Network members and $205 for non-members. If more than one person from the same FMN member museum attends, the cost for additional people is $145. Registration after Oct 10 is $210 for FMN members and $240 for non-members. After Oct. 10, the cost for additional people from the same FMN member museum is $180. (Please note that the higher non-member rate will establish FMN membership.)

These costs include all sessions on Nov. 7-9, a bus tour to fire museums, two lunches, and hospitality room snacks. The optional bourbon trail (visiting two major bourbon distilleries) and horse farm tour on Nov. 10 costs $120 per person; it includes bus transportation, snacks, and visits.

The seminar programs will include topics related to fire museum administration, education, exhibits, and history. Presentations and discussions will be relevant for museums that are small or large, new or established. Museum management 101, saving oral history, fire horses, developing a new exhibit, teaching STEM at the museum, attracting motor coach tours, making displays more vibrant, and Ahrens-Fox are among the topics. "Here's What's Happening: Reports from Around the Country" will allow participants to make 3-minute presentations on their museums using AV resources as desired. Visits to fire museums in Cincinnati; Madison, IN; and Louisville are included in the regular program.

The conference hotel is the Clarion Hotel, 505 Marriott Drive, Clarksville, IN 47129, tel. 812-283-4411. FMN Seminar room rates for singles and doubles are both $82.95. Breakfast is not included, but there is a full restaurant on site. We will have meeting rooms there and a hospitality suite. Reservations after Oct. 16 will be provided on a space-available basis.
