2026 Fire Museum Seminar

Daily Seminar Schedule

Sunday – Mansfield Fire Museum

 

· 2:00pm           - Registration and Tour of MFM.  Appetizers and beverages will be provided (wings, meatballs, cocktail

                                            sausages, veggie tray, cheese tray, cheese ball and crackers, chips and dips)

· 3:30pm           - FMN Board meeting (Board Members and Advisory Board members) at the Mid-Ohio

                                            Conference Center

· 5:00pm           - A light dinner at the MFM (hot dogs, burgers, Brats, baked beans, salad)

· 5:00pm           - Presentation (during dinner): “Sertoma; Working with the Hearing Impaired” (Steve Allen)

· 7:30pm           - Network Nights at the host hotel (snacks and beverages provided)

 

Monday - Mid-Ohio Conference Center

 

· 6:00am           -  Breakfast at hotel (provided)

· 8:00am           -  Registration continues at the Conference Center for late arrivals

· 9:00am           -  Welcome and introduction of special guests : Mayor Jodie Perry, Mansfield Fire Chief Dan Crow,       

                                             and Jodie Snavely with Destination Mansfield

· 10:00am          -  Presentation:  “Advertising your Museum” (Lind Advertising)

· 11:00am           -  Presentation:  “Insurance Coverage for Museums” (TBD)

· 12:00pm          -  Lunch at the Conference Center (sandwiches, chips)

· 1:00pm           -  Presentation: “World War I and the Implementation of Motorized Fire Apparatus” (Steve Heaver)

· 2:00pm           -  Presentation: Maintenance of Antique Fire Apparatus” (Rick Klemundt)

· 3:00pm           -  Return to Mansfield Fire Museum

· 3:30pm            -  Presentation: “The Invention of the Garrett Morgan Smoke Hood” (TBD)

· 5:00pm           -  Dinner at the MFM (Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, corn, salad bar)

· 6:00pm           -  BINGO! at the MFM (optional)

· 7:30pm            - Network Nights at the host hotel (snacks and beverages provided)

 

Tuesday - Central Ohio Fire Museum (Columbus, OH)

 

· 6:00am           - Breakfast at hotel (provided)

· 8:00am           - Load buses (vans) for Road Trip to Columbus, Ohio

· 9:30am           - Tour of the COFM and the restored Columbus Heart Mobile

· 10:30am          - Presentation::  “Marketing and social Media” (Julie Goodwin)

· 11:30am           - Lunch at the COFM (provided)

· 12:30pm          - Presentation:  “Displaying Artifacts” (TBD)

· 1:30pm            - Presentation:  “Gamewell Alarm Systems” (TBD)

· 2:30pm           - Presentation:  “Fire Marks and Their Role in the Early Fire Service” (Gabriel Laubacher)

· 3:30pm           - Load buses for return trip to Mansfield

· 5:00pm           - Dinner at the MFM (grilled chicken alfredo, spaghetti, meatballs, salad bar)

· 6:00pm           - Viewing of the movie “Shawshank Redemption” at the Fire Museum (optional)

· 7:30pm           - Network Nights at the host hotel (snacks and beverages provided)

 

Wednesday – Ohio State Reformatory / North Central Ohio Industrial Museum

 

· 6:00am           - Breakfast at hotel (provided)

· 8:30am           - Load buses for trip to Ohio State Reformatory Museum

· 9:00am           - Tour of the Shawshank Redemption filming location

· ​10:30am          - Tour of the North Central Ohio Industrial Museum

· 12:00pm          - Lunch at Reformatory Museum (shredded chicken and pulled pork sandwiches, cheesy potatoes,

                                                                                   green beans)

· 12:00pm          - Presentation (during lunch): “Creating the North Central Ohio Industrial Museum” (Jerry Miller)

· 1:00pm            - Group Photo (in front of Reformatory)

· 2:00pm           - Annual FMN Members Meeting at the Fire Museum

· 3:00pm           - Brag About Your Museum!

· 4:00pm           - On Your Own:  Kingwood Center Gardens or Richland Carousel Park (optional)

· 6:00pm           - Dinner at the Fire Museum (fish fry, chicken tenders, macaroni salad, coleslaw, fresh cut fries)

· 6:30pm           - “Passing the Banner” (a new tradition!)

· 7:30pm            -  Network Nights at the host hotel (snacks and beverages provided)
