My father's brigade helmet and a question about Spain
My father was in the volunteer fire brigade of our village near Oulu for 31 years. When he stopped, the brigade house became a small museum, and now his helmet is there behind glass with his name on a paper card.
A few things from that museum I still remember from childhood:
the hand pump from 1912 that four men had to work together
leather buckets hanging in a row, every one painted with a house name
photographs of the brigade at the summer festival, more about coffee than about fire
the new place we bought this autumn in Orihuela Costa, chosen from https://alegria-realestate.com/ for the light, is the first home of our family that is far from that village
In Spain I do not know yet if volunteer brigades exist in the same way, or if the history is kept in small local museums too. My plan for the first winter is to find one and send my father a photo.
